Why When You Plan Your Travel Eastern Europe Should Not Be Overlooked

When people are deciding where to travel Eastern Europe is being considered far more often than it used to be. It is now twenty years since the Berlin wall came crashing down, and the face of Eastern Europe was changed forever. Now, we are even seeing countries which were once behind communist walls being invited to join the European Union, and many of the former Eastern bloc countries are already established as popular tourist destinations. Eastern Europe can offer as great a diversity of travel experience as any other.

If you are looking for a break in the sunshine, with golden beaches and clear blue skies and sea, Eastern Europe can supply this. Coastal regions of Croatia and Bulgaria, to name but two of the available options, are starting to put down a serious challenge to the long established favorites of Spain, Italy and Portugal. They don't have the same all-year-round climate, but in the summer season they are a perfectly viable economical alternative. When you plan your travel Europe map references will show you many more options than in previous decades.

In the most complete travel maps Europe has effectively expanded, as the Eastern resorts have now thrown down a genuine challenge to the established operators. For short term travelers looking for a city break, Prague was very quick to establish itself as a leading contender. The city has a great cultural history, being a favorite of, among others, Mozart. His 1786 opera Le Nozze Di Figaro was even more popular here than it was in his native Austria, and Don Giovanni was premiered in Prague. Add on to this the 38th Symphony, which is still to this day known as the Prague Symphony, and you can see how strong the connection was.

If you are planning a tour Eastern Europe is a great place to go, as you can see so much, and really get a feel for the local culture. Even here, this can be extremely diverse from one area to another. After decades of economic stagnation under the communist regime, there are still plenty of rural farming areas where life has scarcely changed. Contrast this with the traditions and culture of a city such as Prague, which can now easily attract tourists from all over the world who no longer need to worry about supporting a despotic regime.

If you are planning to go off the beaten track and really explore the country you are visiting, it would be well worth your while trying to learn a bit of the local language. While the need to learn English has been paramount ever since the Berlin wall came down, there are still large sections of the population who went through school before these changes were made. In the cities, you can get by with just English, but picking up some language skills can certainly enhance your experience as you travel eastern Europe.
